Early College Credit Program & Start College Now

The School District of Ashland will pay up to 18 college credits for current high school students to take college courses. Students will earn high school AND college credit for the courses they take. For every 1 college credit, they will earn .25 high school credit. If the student drops or fails a course, they will not earn the credit and the financial responsibility will fall on the student/family. There are two ways for students to take college courses:

SCN/ECC Process:

Step 1: Students should fill out the SCN/ECC application with their school counselor.

ECC Program Application - downloadable form

SCN Program Application - fillable PDF

Step 2: School counselor will submit applications to the district office by the deadline date.

Step 3: Applications will be approved by the district office personnel. Applications will then be sent to the colleges for approval.

Step 4: Colleges will approve or deny applications and contact students via their personal email provided on their application.

Step 5: Students will be responsible for contacting the college they applied to for the next steps and to REGISTER for their class/es.

Northwood Tech has a registration day where all SCN students can register for their courses.

Step 6: After students REGISTER for their courses, they must print off a copy of their schedule. Also, students and families must initial and sign the Procedures & Responsibilities sheet.

Both of these must be turned into the Student Services office at AHS before college classes begin.

**If this step is not completed, their college courses will not show up on their transcript AND they will not be able to receive any books needed for their class/es.**

(Please keep in mind that books may take time to come in so the earlier we can get them ordered, the better!)

Step 7: When their class/es are completed, all books must be returned to Ms Tody in the Student Services office.

If a student took an ECC course, the student must provide their grade/s they received from the college in order for Ms. Tody to enter them onto their transcript.

All SCN grades will be submitted to AHS by NTC.
