Skyward: Family Access is an online service that gives parents access to their child(ren)'s progress in classes and grades. Parents needing assistance with their accounts can contact Cheryl Tody at 715-682-7827 X 1007.
Tutoring: Tutoring is available during the day most days of the week. All teachers are willing to set up time to meet with students before/after school. Students are encouraged to take advantage of tutoring whenever they need help.
School Meals: Food Service Breakfast is offered free to all students at AHS.
Academic Letter: Criteria for an Academic Letter include grade point averages for two consecutive semesters (the same year) of 3.7 or higher, enrollment in at least three credits per semester, and good school standing.

LIFE READY: Being LIFE READY means Ashland students leave high school with the grit and perseverance to tackle and achieve their goals. Ashland students possess a growth mindset that empowers them to approach their future with the confidence to dream big and achieve big. CAREER READY: Ashland students are CAREER READY when they have identified a career interest area and meet at least TWO of the following experiential activities.

Academic and Career Planning (ACP)/College and Career Readiness Education
Xello: Ashland High School utilizes the career development tool Xello. This site allows students to develop a cumulative Academic and Career Portfolio. This powerful tool allows you to participate in activities that will allow you to learn more about yourself and document academic and career experiences that you have while in school.
Grade 9: In ninth grade, credits become very valuable. Missed credits in required courses will need to be made up. Additionally, students will continually revise their plan for what they would like to do after graduation and engage in structured activities designed to help them learn about career skill development and college and career options.
Grade 10 Career Education: Students begin to narrow their career considerations and broaden their understanding of learning and post-secondary options. Students will continue to have structured activities designed to help them learn about career skill development and college and career options.
Grade 11: Reminder to continue to meet with your counselor. Annual event: Education Fair, WITC Career Day, a career pathway exploration day. All juniors are invited to explore career pathways they may be interested in and then they have the option to attend WITC for a day to take classes in their chosen pathway. Students participate in hands-on learning and experience a day at a post-secondary institution to get a sense of options after high school.
Grade 12: Education Fair, All seniors will meet with their counselor at the beginning of their senior year to make sure they are on track to graduate and on track with their post-secondary plans.
**Many post-secondary, college, and military reps come to AHS during the year to talk with students interested in their programs. All students should read announcements & school email to learn about the many opportunities AHS has to offer throughout the school year.
Class of 2019 and Thereafter
These classes will use the same grade scale as the class of 2018 with the addition of weighted grades for all Advanced Placement (AP) courses.

Academic & Career Planning
Registration/Scheduling: Academic and Career Planning (ACP) and reviewing that ACP yearly are critical steps to a successful high school experience and transition to postsecondary plans. Students are encouraged to plan their schedules according to career pathways and post-secondary requirements. The registration/scheduling process starts in February. Changes in schedules after registration are difficult to make and must meet the criteria in our change policy. Please set up an appointment with your school counselor to help with planning.
Early College Credit Program and Start College Now formally Youth Options:
The ECCP allows 9th through 12th grade students and the SCNOW program allows 11th and 12th grade students to attend college to earn both high school and college credit. The intent is to provide opportunities and academic challenges for students at a university or technical college in courses that are not offered at Ashland High School. Students interested in this program must complete the appropriate application due October 1st and March 1st, the semester prior to the semester the student wishes to participate. Applications are available from the Academic, Career and Counseling Center or from the respective college websites. Educational Institutions are defined as:
A public school in a nonresident school district;
- the University of Wisconsin System;
- a technical college;
- nonprofit institutions of higher education;
- a tribal college;
- a charter school; and
- a nonprofit organization that has been approved by the Department of Public Instruction (DPI).
Advanced Placement/TC/ Honors Courses:
Advanced Placement is a program of college-level courses and exams.
Transcripted credit courses are college level courses available at AHS through a concurrent enrollment agreement with WITC.
Both AP and TC courses offer an opportunity for both high school and college credit.
Youth Apprenticeship/Employability Skills: Junior/Senior eligible- Wisconsin Youth Apprenticeship Program is a one year program. Students must have employment that aligns with their interests and abilities, following a Career Pathway. CTE Work release is arranged in the following areas: Marketing CoOp, Agriculture CoOp, and Family and Consumer Science (HERO/Medical Science) CoOp, Junior Youth Apprenticeship, and Senior Youth Apprenticeship. Post Secondary Options:
Colleges and Universities: These four (plus) year institutions offer a wide range of training and degrees. Students should research individual college/university requirements and make sure their four year plans are in line with the requirements of their school of choice.
Community Colleges: These two year schools offer students the opportunity to earn an Associate Degree and/or specific training certifications. Students who choose a two year college may decide to continue their education at a four year institution. Students are encouraged to take rigorous courses in high school to prepare for college.
Technical (Vocational) Colleges: These institutions offer a wide range of training. Students have the opportunity to earn an Associate Degree as well as Certificates of Program Completion. Students are encouraged to take rigorous courses in high school to prepare for college.
Military: The military offers a wide variety of training and career opportunities. All branches of the military require students joining to have a high school diploma. The ASVAB test is required for placement within the military. Military recruiter information can be obtained from school counselors.
World of Work: Plan Ahead- Students increase employment options and opportunities by selecting career- related courses.
Apprenticeships: Post-secondary apprenticeships may be available through sponsorship by a trade professional. It typically includes technical college coursework and on-the- job training. Requirement: High school diploma or equivalent. For more information: www.dwd.wisconsin.gov/apprenticeship/
